As Dundalk Dan's Awesome Beef Jerky continues to grow, we thought now would be a great time to expand on our history and background.
Ever since Dundalk Dan's Awesome Beef Jerky first started, we have always made our beef jerky in small batches, hand-trimming the fat out of the USDA grade beef and marinating each batch for at least 3 days before dehydrating and vacuum sealing each batch - by hand.
Dundalk Dan and his family began making beef jerky in their home in 2012 and have been working hard ever since to perfect their recipes. He began making the jerky in his basement, and it quickly went from a hobby to a passion.
After he got the basics down, Dan and his wife Stacey started experimenting with different jerky recipes. As big-time crab eaters, naturally they experimented by turning to a crab seasoning flavored jerky. A 5-gallon bucket of J.O. Spice #1 Seafood Seasoning was in the pantry and provided the core of the signature flavor that we still use today. Friends and family agreed and that there was something special about the flavor, and they couldn't make it fast enough.
This of course became the famous Chesapeake flavor that you know and love today. Dundalk Dan's has since added Sweet BBQ, Sriracha, and is currently working on even more flavors in our test kitchen.
Dundalk Dan's Awesome Beef Jerky is synonymous with the hard-working culture of Baltimore and its surrounding neighborhoods. It packs a no-nonsense attitude, leaving out lots of the bad stuff and instead providing simply the best taste. But Dundalk Dan's is more than just beef jerky - it's a brand with employees that love what we do and sharing it with the people we know will also love it.
From Dundalk Dan himself, to the front office, to the production kitchen, and every retail location where you can pick up a bag of Dundalk Dan's, our entire team has one goal - to share with you the best beef jerky. And we truly believe that our product is just that.
We started in Dundalk, MD and couldn't be more proud to share our success with the place where we began. We are now based out of Baltimore, MD and take pride in growing our business alongside the city as its small businesses and local companies expand. All of our recipes originate in our test kitchen in Dundalk. We work with a co-packer to produce the final packaged product, which is always handmade in small batches. Our product facilities are USDA certified and inspected. All of our deliveries, inventory and marketing efforts take place at our Baltimore office.
